It was a busy week for the boys at St Peter’s. The Grade 6s enjoyed their FLP week and learnt about some of the history of this country and about values, which are also an important aspect of life at St Peter’s Boys Prep.

The Big Question:

“Values were at the core of impacting South Africa’s journey from struggle to liberation, to transformation. How might your values impact your life and that of those around you to bring positive change?”

Education in the 21st Century

Boys Prep  November 12, 2015 | Headmaster | Rob Macaulay

I have recently enjoyed reading a book by Tony Wagner and Ted Dintersmith entitled “Most Likely to Succeed – Preparing our Kids for the Innovation Era.”  The authors of the book, one from the education field and the other a leading venture capitalist, are calling for a revamp of the American education system.  They argue that, as was shared by Greg Royce at the beginning of this year, traditional schooling was engineered more than a century ago to produce a workforce for a world and economy that no longer exists.

This week was observed as Mandela Week.  The theme was:  ‘It is not about us and them, but all of us’.

The St Peter’s boys and girls responded, in true St Peter’s style, to the Community Partnership’s call for clothing, shoes, blankets, etc. for those in need.  The Boys and Girls Junior Prep pupils decorated a skip with beautiful artwork that depicts the hands of hope which was used to collect the donated clothing. By this morning the skip was overflowing.
