Deputy Head Girl

High school, without a doubt, is an experience of a lifetime. I can’t really remember all the details but I do remember my very first assembly here at St Peter’s College. I honestly could not hear a single word that Mr Morais was saying for the most part of his speech, but in my defense I was just so excited to be here. Asking me to sit still that day was like trying to tell a fire not to burn. My eyes were alight, my every muscle needed to move, to dance, to jump. However, there was one thing that really grasped my attention that to this day, I have not forgotten.
He told the rest of the school and me that here at the college we are a family. This brings me to why Relationships, out of all the four core values is the most important value that the college has taught me. Here at the College, I have met a lot of wonderful people that I am proud and grateful to have in my life.
With all the current uncertainties and the many unknowns that may arise as a result of this pandemic, it no doubt takes a toll on the amazing experience that the College works so hard to implement. However, this is not something that we should be fixated on, the reason being that St Peter’s College is more than a place of work, it’s a second home. I can confirm this because, at this College, family is family, you don't ever have to re-earn your place at our table, once you are accepted we keep you safe, forever, no matter what.
Despite all the restrictions and limitations, this pandemic has inflicted, this family, the College is the one thing that Covid 19 could never take away from me. Hence, I am truly grateful to have the privilege of allowing you to experience the same type of love and community as your Deputy Head Girl of 2021.
