Some of us are born with simply extraordinary talent. This type proficiency normally only achieved by a handful of adults usually results in two responses. We are either inspired to develop our own talents or we are simply overwhelmed and say, ‘I could never do that’. In the main though, most associate such brilliance with success.
The enormous effect of environment on intelligence in the early years is one of the main drivers for the opening of our own St Peter’s Pre-Prep. Early Childhood Development (ECD) encompasses physical, socio-emotional, cognitive and motor development between 0 to 8 years of age.
The appearance of the Covid-19 virus in South Africa produced a deluge of news: articles, opinions and statistics. Anxiety gripped society which seemed obsessed with the worst predictions, serving only to heighten fear. As set out in our letter of 6 June 2020, the Council Sub-committee has been established to look into racist, sexist and other forms of discrimination and related matters at St Peter’s College. The Committee met on 13 June 2020 to consider submissions from concerned parties.

St Peter’s College, however, is an incredibly optimistic place. Despite this being a very trying time, it has also been one full of hope. The students have been a marvel - cheery, positive and wonderfully kind to one another, albeit online. The whole St Peter’s College community has also really rallied round, and I want to thank every single parent who has taken the time to say a kind word, or send a short email of thanks to our staff during this period.
The 16th annual St Peter’s College Sports and Cultural Festival is happening from Thursday to Sunday, 19 - 22 September 2019. We look forward to welcoming over 3,000 students from different schools to this hugely vibrant and fun event that we all look forward to every year.
As dawn breaks on Saturday, 22 June, our school starts to come alive with the familiar hustle and bustle of a St Peter’s ‘get-together’. It’s only been 24 hours since the winter solstice and already the blue skies and balmy sunshine seem to indicate the approach of summer.
