The 16th annual St Peter’s College Sports and Cultural Festival is happening from Thursday to Sunday, 19 - 22 September 2019. We look forward to welcoming over 3,000 students from different schools to this hugely vibrant and fun event that we all look forward to every year.
The story is of a young intern, Emily, who joins an office in which her colleagues work the same robotic day over and over without ever having met the boss; this symbolizes how people blindly follow a religion. Emily questions her workplace’s reality and the boss’ very existence. Despite the disagreement she had with her colleagues, she embarks on a journey in which she meets the Sangomas’ who direct her to the boss, who turns out to be a woman.
The Wits Trio has established themselves as a prominent chamber music ensemble in South Africa. The members are Malcolm Nay on piano, Susan Mouton on cello and Zanta Hofmeyr on violin. They will be performing Beethoven’s Piano Trio in C Minor Opus 1. Nr 3, Chausson’s Piano Trio in G minor Opus 3: first 2 movements and a Tango by Piazzolla.
St Peter’s College warmly invites Grade 5 and 6 parents and teachers to please join us to explore what we have on offer, to build on the foundation that you have already laid in Educating young minds.
Eighty students and six teachers participated in the fourteen-day tour to three major cities in the USA to experience and learn about the Creative Arts. Not even the 15-hour flight could dampen the spirits. Of course, shopping also formed an important part of the students’ free time!
A magical evening was held recently, to celebrate the successes of our BigFutures, Social Responsibility projects. The donors and volunteers, who support this initiative in various ways, were honoured at an Evensong and subsequent Cocktail Party, hosted by the St Peter’s Foundation.
Old Petrian’s Water polo Girl’s Tournament
Sunninghill - St Peter’s College will be hosting the 15th Annual Old Petrian’s Water Polo Tournament for girls as well as the 4th Annual Old Petrian T20 Cricket Festival. The tournaments will take place from Thursday, 21 February – Sunday, 24 February 2019 at St Peter’s College.
St Peter’s College 20th Anniversary celebrations were held on Saturday, 16 June. It was a very special event and it gave us the opportunity to reflect and celebrate what we have achieved over the past 20 years. This celebration provided us the opportunity to welcome back to the College many of our former founding members, parents, and alumni, as well as, providing them a chance to meet each other, former teachers and other staff members. It also enabled them to notice the changes & developments in the college campus over the past 20 years.
After several Cataflams and Voltaren shots to the lower back, I have managed to recover somewhat to reflect on the Old Boys cricket event last Saturday.
Following on from last year’s successful Old Boys game against the Goblins, this year we hosted another mighty cricket clash between the Old Boys of two highly regarded prep schools - ST PETER’S vs THE RIDGE. The two matches were played in buoyant spirit with both young and old - a number of festive “20 Somethings” bringing lots of banter and great fun. One game was certainly played in a more competitive spirit whilst the “mixed ability” game enjoyed more humour and liquid refreshments.
