In light of the announcement from the President, I thought it would be beneficial to share some book-related resources to help get us through the next few weeks, both in terms of our school work, and reading for relaxation and escape.

Before I start, I encourage all of you to try and read more at this time. Reading is (typically) a low-screen time form of entertainment and escapism. Reading allows us to process our thoughts and feelings through the thoughts and feelings of our favorite characters. This is helpful in a challenging time like this. There is a book out there for everyone

Junior Prep Choir Festival

The Boys and Girls Junior Choirs entertained parents on Thursday evening. The Boys Grade 2 Choir and Girls Grade 2 Choir opened the festival to a full house. The Cadet (Grade 3 & 4) choirs sung beautifully and everyone enjoyed this special occasion.

Matric drama class wins at FEDA

The Festival of Excellence in Dramatic Arts (FEDA) is the most prestigious high school one-act play festival in Gauteng, celebrating excellence in dramatic arts. The schools competing in FEDA included St John’s College, St Benedict’s College, St Stithians Boys’ College, St Mary’s Girls, Reddam House and King David Victory Park.

Youth Day celebration

The celebration of Youth Day on 16 June provides a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the events leading up to the liberation of South Africa, from the apartheid regime to the role played by the youth in this landmark event in South African history. St Peter’s pupils were given an explanation of the significance of the Soweto Uprising, which helped lay the grounds for the release of Nelson Mandela and the end of the apartheid system.
