Data Protection for Schools Workshop

  • May 10, 2019 | Data Protection for Schools Workshop

Schools process more sensitive personal data than most other kinds of organisations. With data on parents, teachers, and students, in particular, schools should be focusing their attention on complying with modern data protection laws, like the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA) in South Africa. Failing to do so could cause serious harm, to the school or its various stakeholders.

St Peter’s College has partnered with an expert in the field of data protection to bring you the Data Protection for Schools Workshop which will take place as follows:

Date:       Friday, 31 May 2019

Venue:    St Peter’s College – College Lane, Off Maxwell Drive - Sunninghill

Time:       08h30 -16h00

Cost:        R985.00 (Includes Course costs, Teas & Lunch)

This specifically designed programme aims at helping schools to understand their responsibilities and plot the required actions. This is an opportunity to focus on efficient and cost-effective solutions to prepare your school to meet the requirements of the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

The responsibility of protecting data within schools rests with Schools’ Councils (Legal & Compliance), Governing body members, senior executives, and data protection officers; and the workshop provides a platform to better understand and guide schools to address these risks.
