WOW! Thank you to all the volunteers who were at the first Sefikeng session on Wednesday! What an incredible start to our Sefikeng year. As we entered the school on Wednesday morning, the chant of ‘St Peter’s, St Peter’s!’ resounded through the school as the Sefikeng children realised we were there.

St Peter’s Boys Enjoyed the Dads & Lads Morning – 16 March 2019

Boys Prep  March 25, 2019 | Physical education | Social and emotional | Callan Cronin: Boys JP Coach and Biokineticist

It was a beautiful day and the weather was perfect for a fun filled morning of cricket. The Grade 1s and their dads played in the first round of matches and thoroughly enjoyed their first taste of ‘competitive sport’. It was evident to see the excitement and nerves amongst not only the boys, but the dads as well, as they demonstrated their cricketing skills/abilities whilst being cheered on from the side by moms, grandparents, brothers and sisters. There were some eagerly contested matches and the boys and their dads seemed to really enjoy the experience.

BIGFUTURES - COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIPS AT ST PETER'S PREP

VISION: Growing servant leaders within our St Peter’s family to uplift our community for their big futures.

In order to create a more sustainable and meaningful impact within our community, St Peter’s Boys Prep and Girls Prep have chosen Sefikeng Primary as our partner school. We will concentrate all our time, effort and resources on their Foundation Phase. Each St Peter’s child and our staff will have an opportunity to make a contribution in some way. We would like to invite you to volunteer too, as we make a difference together!

St Peter's Prep Schools: Taking Time to Breathe

Girls Prep Boys Prep  March 04, 2019 | Social and emotional | Heather Kissack: Girls JP Head

‘A new world is not only possible, she is on her way. On a quiet day, I can hear her breathing’

– Arundhati Roy.

In order to support our own health and that of our children, we invited Ela Manga to talk St Peter’s Prep staff and parents about a way of managing our stress and that of our children. As she says: Dysfunctional breathing habits develop over time due to chronic stress, poor posture or past trauma. These unconscious habits, in turn, exacerbate the stress response and push tension even deeper into the body.

St Peter’s Boys Prep Breaking ICE

Boys Prep  August 15, 2018 | Academics | Cultural | Social and emotional | Sheri Curling & Sean Creamer

I.C.E stands for Inquiry, Creativity and Experimenting. We decided on this name, as these are vital 21st Century skills for the boys to be exposed to and inquiry forms a big part of the curriculum. Incorporating the I.C.E programme at St Peter’s allows boys to be exposed to new experiences and possible hobbies that they might never have considered.
