St Peter's Preparatory School for Boys

Introduction

St Peter's is an Anglican Diocesan School, for boys from 5 to 13 years of age. The School was established in 1950 and is situated on a 35-acre estate in the north of Johannesburg.

Like all good independent schools, it seeks to provide a holistic education and its programme involves all aspects of life including spiritual, academic, sporting and emotional. The School strives to strike a balance between old-fashioned values and modern, innovative approaches. Consequently, while creative thinking, spontaneity and happiness is encouraged amongst the boys, so are courtesy and self-discipline expected.

Boys were formerly prepared for entrance to St John's, St Stithians and St Alban's in Gauteng, amongst others, as well as boarding schools further afield such as Michaelhouse and Hilton in Natal and St Andrew's in Grahamstown. The establishment of our own senior school in 1998, however, has meant that increasing numbers of boys have gone on to St Peter's College.
