Instrumental Lessons

Music is considered to be a vital part of the curriculum and its study unequivocally enhances academic performance

 

The following instrumental lessons are on offer at present:

 
Trumpet, Violin, Flute, Clarinet, Classical Guitar, Banjo, Cello, Recorder, Drumkit, Piano, Trombone, Saxophone, Percussion, Voice, Oboe, Djembe & Organ.
 
As part of the music programme, all Grade 2 pupils are given the opportunity to play the violin for one term and percussion for another term. Both percussion and violin are taught in groups of 8 – 9.
 
String Ensemble
Pupils in Grade 5 – 7 who play a String Instrument may apply to join the String Ensemble.
 
Jazz Band
Any pupil from Grade 4 – 7 may apply to join the Senior or Junior Jazz Band. Those who wish to join the Jazz Band must be taking individual lessons in an instrument. Pupils pay a termly fee to hire an instrument, or provide their own. Both Jazz Bands practice for one hour per week during school time. Instruments included in the Jazz Band are: Saxophone, Clarinet, Trumpet, Drums, Keyboard and Bass Guitar.
